Notice how some of the words are similar to the English words.  In French the days of the week and the months of the year do not start with a capital letter except if they are found at the beginning of a sentence

Aujourd'hui c'est lundi.  Today is Monday.

Demain c'est mardi.  Tomorrow is Tuesday.

Hier c'était dimanche.  Yesterday was Sunday.

Mon jour préféré est samedi.  My favourite day is Saturday.
